It’s coming out extremely well. I was having major problems with my paper for about two weeks now. Besides from being sick and all the other personal drama going on in my life, I was having problems with the sources. The sources that I found during our “source class” just decided to vanish. I e-mailed them to my e-mail and when I clicked on the link to view them it forwarded me to a login page - the problem was I didn’t have a username or password. HOWEVER, I contacted the library and they were able to answer all of my questions extremely quickly - with grace I may add. The librarian was able to pinpoint my problem really easily. I really recommend using them, especially for research papers, I know I will. Besides from that, I have found many sources including articles and journals and a really good article in the New York Times that I found about three days ago - Im excited for it! Anyway, Im kind of behind with the process as of today, however, I tend to kick it in to gear. I have finished my draft and I am really confident in it for what it is. Hopefully I get some good feedback and I finish the semester off with a great paper. Best Regards,Richard Swanson P.S. Hope i didn’t sound like I was making up excuses in the beginning bit. I was just telling you “the journey” of my essay. =D

Since my first essay topic was seen as too broad. I’ve decided to change my topic all together. I have chosen to do my paper on the fact that hip hop as lost it meaning, as a result of the blinding glitz and glamor. I will begin my paper by view the history of the genre and how it rose to mainstream notoriety in the mid 80’s. I will focus on how the genre at that time produced music that served as a vessel for the peoples’ thoughts. And how mainstream hip hop today is nothing but up tempo mumbo jumbo that teaches dance steps that no sane person would do. I’ve already found several books through the library’s data that i believe will help with my research and i also found several periodicals and articles but they all contain really small bits of information. At this point i’m just trying to gathering more info.

I am pretty sure that I am sticking with my new topic of “Should I vote in the 2008 Election”. I think that it will be interesting throughout with the many arguments I put forth and there is many sources of information I can look through. The starting questions I hope to answer is the argument of is it worth it to vote in the 2008 election and also what is the state of the political system in this country. Some information that I will begin my paper with is by showing information of past presidential elections and how young people influenced the election. As of now I haven’t started my research but the sources I have in mind are past election results that are split up demographically and also magazine or newspaper articles that have to do with voting in presidential elections.

My first post on this topic was extremely broad. I decided to break my topic down into specifically teenagers where either a broken home or abuse was a common variable. I believe I will begin my paper by introducing my childhood/upbringing in a broken home and how that effected me. I will give my views on sex and how I think my upbringing has altered these views in anyway. As I continue I will discuss a general sense of these issues in households and how the effect a persons life as they begin to both become sexual active and partake in relationships. Last class we researched some very useful tools and I came across a lot of great information on this topic. I found a book in john jay college (which I have to go get) and i found a huge amount of periodicals/magazine articles. Research wise I am very confident I will be successful in writing this paper, and I guess thats the first step.

We all have reached the age where we will eligible to vote in the next presidential election. Whether we take the time out to even register to vote will be decided in the near future. Although, a large percentage of today’s youth really don’t care about voting in the next election, but the question I will ask myself is “Is it worth it?”. Is it worth it meaning will my vote even count, and also all the numerous problems the election system has in our country making the total process a joke. My paper will discuss how it is worth the time to vote. I think this is a topic I am sticking with because it is very interesting and has tons of sources to get information from.

Does it exist anymore? - Has views on sexuality and the act of sex itself been transformed into a common action done by anyone whom is able? What is sex anymore? How was it changed over time? To me this has been running on my mind for about a year now. Every single time i turn on the television or walk down the street an object of sex is so obviously shown. In my paper I hope to research the effect sex has on people’s personalities and actions throughout life. Why has sex become so important in most people’s young lives - What is too young?

I’ve put a lot of thought into the topic that i will choose for my paper. Since I am not planning to make any significant life changes anytime soon ; I’ve decided to write on a more universal topics. My paper will be on the issues of racism and how it has changed over time.
