English 2100: First-Year Writing

my paper is coming along swimmingly right now. I know what material from the movie “Wild Style” that I’m going to use. I know what articles I am going to use and I know what my motive and thesis is. This is probally the most prepared ive ever been for a paper.

Essay Three writing is going pretty smoothly.  Right now, I am still in my very early stages.  I am crafting my opening statesments somehwhat, however I am mainly still doing a whole lot of research.  I am having concerns about the amount of research I am not finding on the library search.  Originally in class, I found a helpful article but then when I went to go find it at home it wasn’t there.  There is a lot of information on the internet but I need to find more details through the databases.  My next step would be to determine what sources I am actually going to use and how helpful they can be. 

                So far, everything is going well. I already have 4 sources– a book, a newspaper article from the internet, an internet blog, and my dad, who went to Denmark. I am currenly confused on what is an internet source. Isn’t a daily news article from the internet an internet source, or is it a source derived from newspaper? I don’t know what does that mean. So answer that for me, please. I just need two more sources, so if you can tell me some then please suggest some. Also, i have divided my essay or have begun to do so. so far i have done this.

Intro–specify thesis and motive and point of essay
body:
a)details of Denmark and its culture
b) stating the benefits, which are divided into career and cultural exchange opportunities
c)problems I will face, divided into cultural problems, spending, and etc and how i will overcome them
d) the main counterargument which almost stopped me from making a decision to go there.
Conclusion–sum it all up.

I have changed my topic since my original pla.  I changed my ideas on the Sistine Chapel to Diversity in Major League Baseball.  I want to discuss the diversity (rather lack thereof) in Major League Baseball; discuss why most players are white or spanish.  African-Americans saw Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby fight so hard for African-Americans to be integrated from the extinct Negro Leagues into the white man’s league.  So why are there very few black players today?

I plan to approach this topic like a bad storm.  One of the starting questions I hope to answer is described above.  Also, why are there so many Latin American players?  What influence do Asians have on the sport?  I will begin my paper by assessing the issue at hand and taking readers on a delightful trip through time.  I will describe diversity issues that Major League Baseball has experienced in the past and travel all the way to present day.  I will try to look for journals, as well as books from the online Library.  In the class excercises, I have already found an article that may be helpful.   

      In my research, I wish to answer the problems I will face during my trip in term of the lanaguage and cultural problems. Also, I want to know whether I will face any future problems since I will further extend my semester and might end up graduating later on. Also, I am going to answer how this trip can help me in the future.

      I am going to begin my paper by first stating the reasons for my desire to go there and the background of the city and the country in whole, in terms of its culture and lanaguage. My sources will be Baruch’s Spend a semester abroad plans, encyclopedia to know about tue country, recent articles to see if any thing bad is happening there currently, and alot of other things.

I will begin my paper by covering the history of graffiti in NYC. I will show a progression of graffiti and the different ways the city tried to combat it. I will be using old newspaper articles that were written during the first explosion of graffiti on the subways to the appearance of graffiti above ground. I will also use interviews of several graffiti artists that were documented on the highly acclaimed movies “Wild Style” and “Style Wars”. I will also cover the tactics used by the city in the present era and the criticism it has received. I will attempt to answer the question of what motivates these artists to take to the street with their art instead of attempting to go legit and doing commissioned pieces on walls for businesses, or trying to sell canvases.  I will also attempt to answer the question of why there is a sudden increase in the harshness of the punishments for graffiti offenses.

I have been thinking about what I want to write my paper on. I want a topic that is interesting to me and will make a good paper. I have decided to write about the ridiculously harsh penalties that are being distributed for graffiti offenses and the community that opposes it. This has been a topic that i have been reading about for a few months now and i think that i can make a very successful paper out of it.

I plan on doing the Art/Artists and the Public Sphere choice of the assignment. I think that the Sistine Chapel paintings by Michelangelo is an appropriate topic to include in this assignment. I will try to explain what impact the paintings have had on society.

my topic for the project will be my decision to go to amsterdam, denmark to spend a semester abroad. I’ll never get a chance to ever go a different country like thats o its going to be cool. Also, they are so free in terms of…well many things. haha. so payce.
